Boosted by 30 years of experience, SHARK Helmets has become one of the world’s leading motorcycle helmet manufacturers. SHARK Helmets brand was originally founded by two brothers from the South of France, and former professional racers who were determined to create one of the world’s safest helmet brand. Little they knew in 1988, that they would achieve their goal by making helmets that would provide the highest level of performance and exceed safety standards. Their ethos which continue to be our ethos, is to push the technical boundaries by reinventing the motorcycle helmet industry.
Since then, innovative designs and safety has always been at the core of each SHARK helmet.
Did you know?
SHARK Helmets is the first brand to have industrially manufactured a helmet using carbon fibre: the XRC carbon, in 1991. In 1995, the XRC model was elected the lightest and safest motorcycle helmet by the renowned german Motorrad magazine.
All SHARK helmets are designed in France at our HQ, where our motto is to design and develop functional products. Every line, every curve, every small detail have a function and serve a purpose.
Our R&D team work on creating new models, at the cutting edge of technology, all of them being designed from scratch, which is what makes our products so unique and innovative.
Our number focus is the rider which is why the user’s head shape is the starting point when designing new products. Each SHARK helmet is designed following the according to the principle of “Reverse engineering”
We take inspiration from other market trends to create new helmet graphics. From the fashion industry to the automotive industry, we take pride in offering unconventional graphics.
We use the most powerful software programs to develop our helmets, from using a 3D printer to make prototypes to using the same programs used in the aerospace and automobile industry.
We rely heavily on CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) studies in order to optimize the aerodynamic profile of our helmets and their penetration in air, in addition to reducing the “buffeting effect”, acoustic nuisances and the aerodynamic drag coefficient (CX).
Each year, we develop breakthrough technical innovations to continually further our progress in both performance and user protection, including: the “SHARK skin” on the SHARK SPARTAN model to improve acoustics; the latest-generation retractable anti-fog breath guard on the SHARK EVO-ONE to minimize air flows; and the specially crafted “Easy fit” system to accommodate riders who wear corrective glasses.
We are constantly working in close collaboration with our top riders. Our objective: relying on their feedback and their expertise to develop new products and aerodynamic solutions while always stretching the technical boundaries of our models.
Our R&D and creative teams have regular contacts with key industry partners to constantly improve the safety and reliability of our products including with the FIM (International Motorcycling Federation) , universities specialized in traumatic brain injury, AMA (American Motorcyclist Association).
To develop our helmets, we look at the “FIM Racing Homologation Program”, a standard reserved for competitive motorcycle riding that is more stringent than the regulatory standards currently in effect.
We talk to The UNECE (The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) along with many Ministries of Transport across the world, to help improving legislation that would focus even more on end user’s protection.

The Standard UN/ECE 22-05, currently applicable in over 50 countries, is intended to be adapted and harmonized internationally. It has already been accepted by the AMA (American Motorcyclist Association) competitions as well as in Australia since 2016.
SHARK Helmets has promoted motorcycle racing as a focus of brand development ever since its creation. With a record that boasts over 60 world championships, SHARK Helmets has sponsored some of the greatest names in racing within both the MotoGP and Superbike disciplines.
And it is the feedback collected from our riders that race under extreme conditions of speed, heat and humidity that has been used to draw conclusions leading to major product advances.
